Central geographic atrophy, the dry form of advanced macular degeneration (macular degeneration associated with age), results from atrophy of the pigment layer beneath the retina, causing vision loss due to loss of photoreceptors (rods and cones) in the central part of the eye. Although there is no treatment for this disease are vitamin supplements with high doses of antioxidants, lutein and zeaxanthin that are found by the National Eye Institute, and others, to the progression of macular degeneration, dry slowly in some patients, improve visual acuity.

To be honest, I never heard that before! The hour is certainly not too many, and more doctors who go to school to learn, knowledge. Good luck with your search!
